Thoughts of Christ’s Blood at Death

“Cling to Christ, and make much of the old foundational truths concerning salvation by His blood. These are the old friends to which our souls will turn at last in the hour of our departure. These are the ancient doctrines on which we shall lean back our aching heads, when life is ebbing away and death is in sight. Nothing will do us good then but the blood of Christ.  Nothing will support us then but the witness of the Spirit, that in the blood of Jesus we have washed, and by that blood have been made clean.”

~ J.C. Ryle

  1. How very true. The words of a man who though dead is now alive in Christ. This earthly life is so short it is almost insignificant. Make sure that you have eternal life before it is too late.

  2. Thank you for this post. I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer a year ago and even though chemo has brought me to “feeling well” I know the stuff is still lurking, just waiting for its opportune time. I know also that my life is in God’s hand, that His provision for my life is good and perfect. In these circumstances I look at death and think of the 23rd Psalm and wonder what my final moments will be like. I pray that I will be clinging to Christ and looking to God for the good that He purposes for me in Christ.

    • You’re very welcome WhiteStone. I’m glad the quote from Ryle, along with the 23rd Psalm, bring some comfort to your journey. May God’s peace & grace continue to surround you during your battle with cancer.
