I charge you never to give up the old doctrine of the blood of Christ, the complete satisfaction which that atoning blood made for sin, and the impossibility of being saved except by that blood. Let nothing tempt you to believe that it is enough to look only at the example of Christ, or only to receive the sacrament which Christ commanded to be received, for which many nowadays worship like an idol.
When you come to your deathbed, you will want something more than an example and a sacrament. Take heed that you are found resting all your weight on Christ’s substitution for you on the cross, and His atoning blood, or it will be better if you had never been born.

When we come to the word “blood” in the Bible, it’s easy to merely read it without giving too much thought to what it actually is. But the Blood of Jesus is very much like Jesus, and the Word of God itself. Notice all the things Scripture teaches about the Blood:
it is eternal (Heb. 13:20)
it cleanses us (1 Jn. 1:7)
it frees us from our sin (Rev. 1:5)
it redeems us (1 Pet. 1:19-20)
it communes with us (1 Cor. 10:16)
it speaks for us (Heb. 12:24)
it makes us overcome (Rev. 12:11)
and it is life-giving (Jn. 6:54-56).
The Blood of Jesus is not corruptible like our human blood is, but is the very Blood of God Himself (Acts20:28) and so is eternal, and has been sprinkled on heaven’s Mercyseat where it will remain for all time as an everlasting witness to our redemption (Heb.9:1-24).
Praise God for the Blood of His Son!
Great Biblical references John! Thanks.
