Currently there are a few written biographies about Ryle, one by Peter Toon and Michael Smout, another by J.I. Packer and another by Eric Russell. However, if you are looking for an in depth audio biography on the background to Ryle’s life and ministry in England, look no further.
I just ‘stumbled’ onto this insightful and thoroughly detailed audio biography of J.C. Ryle (via Sermon Audio) by Pastor Bart Carlson and was blessed to hear the personal and ministerial side of Ryle, this time by listening instead of reading. My hat goes off to Carlson for doing such a remarkable job at researching Ryle and making such an enjoyable biographical sketch of his life.
